Anyone who knows me is familiar with my love of coffee. Espresso, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, I want it all! So when I read a couple of other blogger’s super automatic espresso machine reviews, I just had to dive in and get one. Super automatic espresso machines can make all of my favorites, and even types I’ve never tried, all at the push of a button. It’s like having a local neighborhood coffee joint at home, right in your kitchen. It’s your own personal barista. Just without the line, take away the tip jar, and minus the attitude.
There are quite a few models, but I’ll just talk about the DeLonghi ESAM 3300 Magnifica. Whew! What a name. Most machines are ‘bean to cup’. Which means, you put in the fresh beans, press a button and out comes great smelling, freshly brewed morning Joe. The machine grinds the beans fresh for every brewing cycle, although you can use pre-ground coffee if you desire.
Any size milk container fits inside, and the coffee spigot height can be adjusted as well. Very convenient. One thing I like is that the DeLonghi has ‘fineness’ settings, which allow you to make the coffee as weak or as strong as you want it. There’s also no waiting between espresso and cappuccino like some machines, because it uses a double boiler system. Not only did the double boiler allow me to do espresso and cappuccino simultaneously, but the coffee temperature is always near perfect every time.
In addition to the more technical features it also has a few secondary features that I really like. It has a cup warmer and a built in grinder. Good for me, because I like to buy whole bean coffee. The cup warmer is great so that when the steamy espresso is pulled into the warm cup, it doesn’t lose temperature to the cup.
One gripe I had about the machine is that it is a bit loud. All espresso machines have some level of noise, the noise level of this one is slightly above the average. Thankfully (I think), my mornings are usually a whirlwind of chaos so I rarely notice it. Overall, this is a great machine that coffee lovers will enjoy for years to come. Whether you decide to get this one or one of the other models, be sure it fits your coffee style. Bottom’s up!
So I spent the last few weeks comparing different microwaves to find the one that will cook my favorite salmon (and many other stuff, yum) without fail. There are a ton of options out there so in order to narrow down my choices a bit I chose to set a budget of not more than $75. I looked for the best microwave ovens review and decided to try a few microwaves.
The first microwave I decided to try out was the Nostalgia Electrics Red Retro Series Microwave. I like the retro look of this one and the led display. It comes with a clock (pretty standard in a microwave) 12 pre-programmed features, 5 power settings and 700 watts of power. It’s not very large, sitting at only 18 x 14.2 x 10.2 inches which means it fits nicely on my counter top. The biggest draw back on this one for me though was the lack of a turn table inside, I don’t feel like my food cooks evenly unless it’s spinning.
The next microwave I used was the Kenmore countertop microwave. Kenmore is a brand I’ve heard a lot about and trust so giving this microwave a whirl was a no-brainer for me. At 19 x 14 x 11 inches the size is pretty comparable to the Nostalgia microwave and the weight is nearly identical as well. This one comes with a 10.6 inch turntable that is dishwasher safe, which is a big deal when my hot pocket explodes sending melted cheese all over my microwave. This particular microwave has a save feature so that I can program the times and power level (all 900 watts of it) that I want to cook certain things at. Also with just the press of a button I can increase the cook time by 30 seconds, also handy. At only $63 this one is about six dollars cheaper than the Nostalgia, in my book the Kenmore is the clear winner.
The final microwave I tried was be the Westinghouse 600W Counter Top Microwave Oven, 0.6 Cubic Feet. Again the size on this microwave is pretty comparable to the others at 10.3 x 17.8 x 13.6 inches and it weighs about 23 pounds. It has a turntable, 6 different power levels, and 600 watts of cooking power. This microwave has mechanical dials that you turn to set your cook time as opposed to the buttons of most modern microwaves. The time can only go up to 30 minutes which can be a pain if you need to defrost something and it is going to take a while. The inside is also significantly small than the other microwaves at just 0.6 Cubic Feet. This microwave really doesn’t have a whole lot going for it in terms of what I am looking for and it actually costs more than the Kenmore.
After spending some significant time with each of the 3 competitors the clear winner and the microwave I used to this day is the Kenmore. They have a trusted name and everything I was looking for in a microwave. It has a sleek design, programmable features, a turn table, and a price that fits in to my budget.

The Cuisinart bread maker does not compromise on versatility. Cuisinart allows you to make loaf of breads of three distinct sizes with the maximum size being 2.00 lb. The Cuisinart serves you with a delay time of up to 12 hours. The Cuisinart also has a power back up. Therefore, as a Cuisinart user, you do not have to worry about power disrupting the bread making process.
While the Cuisinart gives 101 bread types to choose from, the operation of the bread maker can be complicated. Imagine if you wanted to make a specific type of bread. Then you would have to consider not only the ingredients, but also the bread size, and other specifics such as crust colours. Do not worry for the solution to the complication is following the manual keenly. The Cuisinart is not an aesthetically striking bread maker, and cleaning the bread maker can be tasking. Perhaps the mentioned complication is the price you have to pay for the versatility and the easy and automatic operations of the Cuisinart.
